The tour departs from the scenic city bowl situated at the foot of Table Mountain, along the curved coastal road set against the Twelve Apostles en route to The Cape of Good Hope. Then through Simons Town via the Indian Ocean en route to Winelands to enjoy a short walk through and wine tasting in the 18th century Cape Dutch styled historical heart of the South African wine region.
The tour now makes its way toward the crème de la crème, the best of the best: The Cape of Good Hope. Situated in 17 750 hectares of nature reserve and home to a variety of wildlife, this expanse of land has captured the imagination of European sailors from the moment they first laid eyes upon it. From the still functional lighthouse at the most south western point of the African continent, guest overlook the mythical place where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.
After leaving The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, the tour continues to Boulders Beach, where guests are afforded the unique opportunity to view a colony of African Jackass Penguins for own account, one of only a few in the world.
The tour continues through Simons Town, home to the South African Navy. A short drive through this coastal town – named after the Dutch governor Simon van der Stel – leads guests along either the coastal roads of Fish Hoek or alternatively the mountain pass via Silver Mines; both offering the guests their first panoramic views across the endless beaches of the False Bay, the Indian Ocean and the greater peninsula.
The tour continues onto and along the R310 coastal road with 20kms of unprecedented panoramic views of the False Bay coast line before cutting inland en route to the Winelands.
Once in the Winelands, we journey to Stellenbosch for a short walk between the quaint galleries, charming restaurants and bustling coffee shops now set in and amongst this 18th century Cape Dutch styled historical heart of the South African wine region. Here guests enjoy a final wine tasting before returning to Cape Town. All prices for day tours include entry fee to Nature Reserve and Wine Tasting only.
