Zambia

“From a vehicle you can see Africa. On foot you will feel, hear and smell Africa.”

Zambia is one of Africa’s best kept secrets and not yet part of the Africa’s main safari circuit. Ten percent of the country is protected by National Parks and Game Reserves; Mosi oa Tunya National Park at Victoria Falls, the floodplains of the Kafue, the Lower Zambezi National Park on the mighty Zambezi and the remote, unspoiled Luangwa Valley are home to a huge concentration of predators and other game species.

Canoeing on the great Zambezi River is one of Africa’s most unique experiences. Drift with the current, watching the bird life on the shore. Swish past pods of hippos and relax as the canoe allows you to view Africa in possibly the most non-invasive way possible. No previous canoeing skill is necessary as your fully trained professional guide takes good care of you.

Walk among Africa’s big and small game in an untamed area, with the security of an expert naturalist and armed guard. This form of safari dramatically heightens the senses and creates exciting experiences not possible in a vehicle.

Remote tented camps and luxurious lodges will complement the spectacular experiences on the Zambezi, and game drives and walking safaris will complete this amazing trip.

Your Zambia safari will be a once in a lifetime experience!

‘SPLENDORS OF ZAMBEZI’ CANOE & WALKING SAFARI

  • Day 1:

Zambezi Valley – Arrive in Lusaka and take a charter flight to the Zambezi Valley. Stay in a luxury safari camp on the banks of the Zambezi River. Elephant, buffalo, kudu, waterbuck, leopard, lion, and hyena are regularly seen on day and night drives. Luxurious safari tents with en-suite facilities, hot and cold running water.
Settle around the campfire and enjoy the sounds and magic of the African night.

  • DAY 2:

Zambezi River Canoe Safari – After an early breakfast, morning game walk and brunch you head for the canoes. The lower Zambezi is renowned for its spectacular canoeing. Led by highly qualified guides, a canoe safari is usually an effortless drift as the Zambezi floats the canoes downstream, and a time to explore the various channels that flow off the main stream of the Zambezi. Elephants, crocs, waterbuck, buffalo, lions, and lots of hippo are likely to be seen along the river.

  • DAY 3:

Zambezi River Canoe Safari – Explore the extraordinary Chifungulu channel. You’d expect to see elephants, hippo, crocodiles and plenty of bird life from the water. After a picnic lunch on the banks of the Zambezi, continue to the next tented safari Camp; rustic and exclusive, on the banks of the Zambezi. Your bags are transferred to the Camp by vehicle as you drift downstream.

  • DAY 4:

Zambezi River Canoe Safari – Early morning game walk, the perfect opportunity to take in the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. Examine animal trails and observe Africa’s smaller creatures which can easily be overlooked from a vehicle. Afternoon and night game drives.
This is wildly popular experience for those who want a more intimate look at this intriguing ecosystem.

  • DAY 5-6:

Luangwa Valley – After a game walk and breakfast, take a charter flight to Mfuwe and the Luangwa Valley. Transfer by open Landrover to a traditional bush camp situated on the banks of the Manzi River. Big game is plentiful and the bird life is wonderful and varied. For the next few days you will experience the combination of the adventure of walking and game drives. These are not major overland hikes, just easy rambles at a pace and distance that suits you all. You’ll take time to examine the small things as well as tracking buffalo, lions and elephant. Game walks and drives are the priority here.

  • DAY 7-9:

Take a slow game drive to the confluence of the Kampamba and Luangwa rivers. The Camp offers not only solitude, but also the ideal opportunity to discover the Luangwa Valley, exploring on foot and by vehicle. Game viewing will be plentiful with a mix of bush walks and game drives. Includes night drives.

  • DAY 10-11:

After an early morning walk, drive to a camp in the heart of the National Park. This area offers superb walking in the unspoiled Mopane groves. The camp nestles in riverine forest with views of permanent water. Walking, game and night drives keep you busy while you are here.

  • DAY 12:

Head for a wonderful safari Lodge, situated in one of the continent’s greatest wildlife areas; beautiful stands of ebony woodland and open grass plains abound. Elephants regularly cross the Luangwa River. After sundown take a night drive, keeping your fingers crossed for a glimpse of the reclusive leopards which call this area home.

  • DAY 13:

Return transfer back to Mfuwe International Airport for a flight to Lusaka.
