My journey in tourism started back in the 1997, as a complete novice to the industry, when Owen and I first started Roots Africa Tours. At the time both of us had pursued careers elsewhere, but were sufficiently excited about the dawn of our new democracy that we both opted for tourism full-time.

In the years that followed, we grew our team from what essentially was just the two of us at the time, to an internationally recognised team of professionals that still share the enthusiasm that we once founded the business on.

Although I am an avid outdoor lover, I have found my strongest contribution to the teams success to be the coordination of the operational matters. And while the overwhelming majority of my daily routine keeps me office bound, I need very little convincing to spend some time outside in the sun.

In recent years I have spent an increasing amount of time travelling abroad, and even though I always look forward to new destinations, I still am hard pressed to find another region with such a rich diversity of people, natural landscape and cultures as southern Africa.

My journey has been one of innumerable magical memories, yet every day I become increasingly aware of how priviledged I am to live in this beautiful country I call home.
