Cindy

Hi! I am Cindy. Although I have lived north and south of the city, my roots are grounded deeply in the beautiful Cape winelands region of Stellenbosch. Our family values are much the same as most small-town country side families in the region where honour, respect and integrity still are important virtues. And even though I have long since left the winelands, I still hold onto those values dearly.

I am an accounting graduate and have worked in the finance departments for major institutions ranging from banking to exports, advertising to retail. Interestingly, although numbers, spreadsheets and formulas have become second nature to me, my amateur baking is what gives me most pleasure. I love finding any excuse to bake for family and friends, all of whom I would like to believe are happy recipients.

After previous exposure to corporate business practices, I was attracted to my current position in Roots Africa Tours by the prospect of growth, both in my personal capacity as well as for the business at large. Besides my administrative contribution to the operations of the business, my core function revolves around business development. Having joined the team in 2017, much of my focus revolves around the creation of long-term value for the business by understanding the needs of prospective clients, new markets and building new relationships.

My interest in travelling was first prompted by a family visit to Canada while still at school, and then shortly thereafter a holiday to Thailand, two countries vastly different in most respects. It is safe to say that the travel bug has bitten so much so that my cravings for it have heightened equal to a self-proclaimed “travel junkie”. I have since gotten married to a husband who loves travelling as much as I do, we try to visit new and different countries at least once year, all of which assists me with my contribution to the Roots Africa Tours team.

The combination of my travel “hobby” and previous work experience perfectly compliments my ambitions for growth within tourism, and I am fortunate to be afforded to space to do so by experienced leaders in business. I believe that the best is yet to come so watch this “Cindy” space, *wink
